University Libraries * * * **Job Summary:** The IT Technical Specialist III performs advanced professional IT activities for a specialized, complex assignment or functional area requiring application of an advanced professional knowledge of IT principles, practices, and procedures. Requires evaluation, originality or ingenuity. May supervise and/or direct the work of project teams or other lower level staff. * * * **Additional Department Summary:** The Web Services Department is charged with designing, developing and maintaining the University Libraries' web presence. The IT Technical Specialist III Web Developer position focuses on front end responsive web programming, with some back-end skills included (DB queries, API REST experience, AJAX). The position will work as part of a team of self-motivated librarians and staff/Tech Specialists and will be expected to work on a variety of technical projects, writing code, completing internal and external projects generated via our KACE system, work with the system admins on some server projects, and to write code for new projects and initiatives. The successful candidate will have: proficiency with responsive programming techniques and technologies and various JS libraries (eg Foundation/Bootstrap/React, etc); experience with HTML5 structures and CSS; demonstrated experience and ability with LAMP technologies; demonstrated ability to navigate and understand servers (especially various virtual environment technologies). * * * **Required Minimum Qualifications:** Master's degree; OR Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of IT experience; OR Associatea??s degree and four (4) years of IT experience; OR High School Diploma or GED and six (6) years of IT experience. Knowledge of advanced programming, networking, system, multimedia, instructional technology skills or project management methods and applications. May require intermediate or advanced level training or certification. * * * **Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:** Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer/Software Engineering, or Education Technology and two (2) years of IT experience; OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer/Software Engineering, or Education Technology. * * * **Skills and Knowledge:** Must have a tenacity for completing projects and enjoy a moderately fast-paced environment and enjoys solving unusual challenges. Must be focused, goal-oriented, and able to work on multiple projects. Must have excellent communication skills, especially in regards to communicating issues, challenges, or roadblocks. * * * **Preferred Qualifications:** Prior experience in web/internet industry. Strong MYSQL skills. Strong linux server skills. Angular/Node, etc. Wordpress programming. Experience with Library Tech and vendor platforms such as Dspace and Omeka, FOLIO, Ebsco products, Springshare products.
