POSITION: Logistics Process Engineer
LOCATION: Vance, Alabama
REPORTS TO: Logistics Planning Manager DIRECT REPORTS: 0
Major Responsibilities:
Facilitate the application of lean principles. Apply lean tools, including standardized work, 5S visual factory, total productive maintenance, pull systems, value stream mapping, etc.
Develop plant / process layouts and / or improve existing layouts to maximize efficient use of space, equipment, and labor.
Establish and implement work standards through time studies and other accepted methods.
Assist the PM and Engineering manager to make informed decisions related to the purchase of equipment, including forklifts, tooling, lift assists, generators, compressed air systems, racking, sweepers/ scrubbers, compactors, and miscellaneous items pertaining to specific projects.
Recommend new and / or improve existing error proofing methods and technology.
Obtain quotes, perform cost analysis, and manage contractors working on various installations and facility construction.
Help to track the project capital budget and report ongoing status to Project Manager
On time completion of projects.
Innovation and Best Practice implementation
Internal and External Customer Satisfaction and feedback.
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Logistics / Supply Chain Management from a college or technical school (or equivalent related study or experience). Strong interpersonal skills. Able to initiate and execute lean processes in material handling and light manufacturing. Strong computer skills in Microsoft office required; AutoCAD, Access and BLG Logistics Business Systems a plus. Strong operational analytical and problem solving skills.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, processes, correspondence, and memos in the English languages. Ability to write complex correspondence and document complex processes in the English language. Ability to effectively present information in one:on:one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization in the English Language.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Intermediate knowledge of financial and logistics:related mathematical functions.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio and PowerPoint. Intermediate knowledge of computer based project management tools is required and knowledge of MS:Project is desired. The individual must be capable of understanding and eventually having a thorough knowledge of BLGs Excel:based calculation tools
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to interpret data and recognize and document trends. Ability to utilize analytical tools and common sense understanding to implement problem solving and improvement measures.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Certification relating to logistics and quality management are advantageous but not required. (e.g. CSCMP, Six:Sigma, etc.) A valid Drivers License is preferred. Forklift operating license is preferred, but on the job training is available.
