The College of Education maintains a large array of degree programs and is heavily involved in research and outreach activities throughout the Southeast region. Responsibilities include: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in elementary and/or secondary science education and curriculum and instruction Establish an active research/publication record Pursue external funding in science education Direct student research, theses, and dissertations in science education and advise students Serve on student and faculty committees Supervise practicum and internship experiences Collaborate in further development of innovative undergraduate and graduate programs Collaborate with local schools and school systems Minimum Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Science Education, Elementary Education (with emphasis on science education), or Secondary Education (with emphasis on science education) Minimum 2 years full-time K-12 classroom teaching Demonstrated ability to pursue a research agenda with potential for external funding in science education Ability to teach courses in K-6 or K-12 science education Ability to teach courses in general elementary and/or secondary education, curriculum and instruction Ability to integrate technology into instruction including web-assisted and other alternative delivery models Ability to teach with a multicultural perspective Preferred Qualifications: Ability to integrate inclusion concepts into instruction Experience with ESL populations Experience working in collaborative settings Further information about the program and college is accessible at www.education.ua.edu.
