Responsibilities include conducting and publishing academic research in high quality journals, generating external research funding, teaching courses in the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs and engaging in service at a level commensurate with the level of faculty appointment. The Culverhouse College of Commerce at The University of Alabama invites applications for two faculty positions in Applied Statistics, at the Associate or Full Professor level, with an expected start date of August 16, 2018. Candidates must hold a Doctorate in Statistics, or a closely related field. Successful candidates will be expected to lead independent and rigorous research in statistics with an emphasis on Data Science or Network Analytics. Preferred candidates will also have interdisciplinary research interests in at least one of the following application areas: energy, water, environment, lifespan, healthcare, cybersecurity, or transportation. Applicants with a track record of externally funded research are strongly preferred. Rank and Salary are commensurate with experience and achievements. Additional Position Information The applied statistics group, within the Department of Information Systems, Statistics, and Management Science ( ISM ), currently has 10 faculty members and offers a MS and Ph.D. in Applied Statistics. Ideal candidates should be able to make immediate and substantial contributions to an emerging analytics program in both research and teaching. Founded in 1831 and located in the historic city of Tuscaloosa, The University of Alabama is the main campus of the university system and the largest in the state with a total enrollment of over 37,000 students. The Culverhouse College of Commerce, founded in 1919, now includes over 8,500 students and 150 faculty members.
