Professor of Law and Tweedy Chairholder will advance the excellence of the faculty of the University of Alabama School of Law and enhance the School of Laws already-distinguished national and international reputation for important, engaged, and high-quality legal scholarship. The Chairholder will possess a national or international reputation for scholarship and teaching of the highest caliber in the field of law. Candidates should possess a JD degree. However, Tweedy Chair candidates who possess only an alternative advanced degree, such as a Ph.D. or SJD, and have also engaged in sustained research and scholarship related to the law involving interdisciplinary, jurisprudential, empirical, or social scientific work, will also be eligible for consideration. Exceptional candidates who possess an advanced degree, such as a Ph.D., and who have scholarship related to the law involving interdisciplinary, jurisprudential, empirical, or social scientific work may be considered without holding a law degree.
