This position is located at the Columbus, MS Global Cellulose Fibers mill. As one of the largest softwood pulp producers in the world, this location produces bleached softwood pulp for use in paper and specialty products such as absorbent personal care products, pharmaceuticals and photographic:based papers. The successful candidate will be accountable for safety, environmental, reliability, and financial performance of the power and utilities area. The position reports to the Business Unit Manager : Power and Utilities.
:Be a role model and champion for an injury:free work place and promote safety and excellence in all areas of influence.
:Responsible for leading process safety improvements through personal commitment and other safety programs.
:Provide leadership to approximately 40 power and utilities team members and ensure that all team members are treated with respect and dignity.
:Deliver clear expectations to team members around safety and environmental compliance.
:Responsible for gaining commitment and motivating employees toward a common goal in a union:free environment.
:Understands and utilizes the principles necessary to achieve and maintain a high performance organization.
:Ensure reliable operation of equipment by utilizing the following best practices: root cause failure analysis and action item implementation, precision maintenance practices, vibration analysis, lubrication analysis, preventive maintenance, and routine and annual outage planning.
:Responsible for ensuring the power and utilities department meets fuel usage and power sales targets.
:Champion the implementation of capital projects to ensure they meet stated business objectives.
:Establish a culture of deliberate improvement in power and utilities department.
:Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment; power and utilities experience preferred; experience in the pulp and paper industry preferred.
:Minimum three (3) years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment; five (5) years preferred.
:Detailed knowledge of industrial safety and environmental procedures and regulations.
:Thorough knowledge of power boilers, water treatment, steam systems, and turbine generators.
:Ability to track and measure performance utilizing standard methods/tools.
:Ability to collaborate with peers and work well work others.
:Strong commitment to reliability and the use of Manufacturing Excellence tools.
:Strong computer skills including proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
